Mary in our lives

Authentic Marian devotion always draws the soul closer to Jesus Christ. Mary never keeps attention for herself; her entire life points beyond her own person to her Son. Through prayerful practices, quiet reflection, gestures of reverence, and the faithful observance of Marian feasts, believers learn to imitate Mary’s interior life—her listening heart, her trust in God’s promises, and her willingness to surrender to His will.
Marian devotion can become part of our daily lives in simple and meaningful ways. Prayers such as the Rosary, the Hail Mary, and the Angelus gently shape the rhythm of our days and draw our hearts closer to God. Sacramentals, such as medals, scapulars, and a home altars, serve as visible reminders of our faith and our desire to live in God’s presence. In praying with Mary, we are led more deeply into the mysteries of Christ’s life, death, and resurrection. The Rosary, in particular, invites contemplation of the Gospel through Mary’s eyes, allowing her maternal presence to guide meditation and deepen understanding. Marian devotions cultivate humility, patience, and fidelity—virtues that prepare the heart to receive Christ more fully.
The Rosary
The rosary is one of the most cherished prayers of our Catholic Church. Introduced by the Creed, the Our Father, three Hail Marys and the Doxology (“Glory Be”), and concluded with the Salve Regina, the rosary involves the recitation of five decades consisting of the Our Father, 10 Hail Marys and the Doxology. During this recitation, the individual meditates on the saving mysteries of our Lord’s life and the faithful witness of our Blessed Mother.

Pray the Rosary every day!
“Pray the rosary every day to obtain peace for the world and the end of the war.” Our Lady of Fatima – May 13, 1917 (First Apparition)
The Five First Saturdays
The Five First Saturdays devotion is one of the principal points of the Fatima message. It centers on the urgent need for mankind to offer reparation and expiate for the many injuries that the Immaculate Heart of Mary suffers from the hands of both impious and indifferent men.

On the First Saturday during 5 Consecutive Months, the Devotion consists of:
- Going to Confession,
- Receiving the Sacrament of Holy Communion,
- Saying five decades of the Rosary,
- Meditating for 15 minutes on the mysteries of the Rosary.
All this offered in REPARATION for the sins of blasphemy and ingratitude committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Marian Devotional Prayers

“The Angelus, is grounded in the Annunciation story. Traditionally, it was prayed three times a day; at 6:00 am, noon and 6:00 pm. In monasteries and villages, a reminder, bells the world over would summon all to pause in their work to pray.”

Sub tuum praesidium
Sub tuum praesidium confugimus, Sancta Dei Genetrix.
Nostras deprecationes ne despicias in necessitatibus,
sed a periculis cunctis libera nos semper, Virgo gloriosa et benedicta.
We fly to thy protection,
O holy Mother of God.
Despise not our petitions in our necessities, but deliver us always from all dangers, O glorious and blessed Virgin.
Virgin salus populi romani attributed to St. Luke the Evangelist.
(Latin, “Under your protection”) is the opening phrase of one of the oldest known Christian prayers to the Virgin Mary, dating back to the 3rd century, found on an Egyptian papyrus, asking for her intercession and protection from all dangers, acknowledging her role as Mother of God. It’s a foundational Marian prayer, often used in the Catholic tradition as a plea for help and refuge.
Our Lady of Sorrows
It is a devotion given to us by St. Bridget of Sweden (1303–1373). During this month devoted to our Lady of Sorrows, we are invited us to console the Sorrowful Heart of Mary and to unite our suffering to hers and by doing so receive beautiful graces of consolation and strength.

Our Lady of Sorrows This Image is inside the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, Jerusalem, (Catholic, Latin area of the church, near Calvary – Golgotha). The sword and rosary emphasize her sorrow, prayer, and silent participation in the Passion. It is Mary honored in the very heart of the Passion itself, inside Christianity’s holiest site. Our Lady of Sorrows Prayer
Dear Mother Mary, your heart was pained so much on your earthly pilgrimage by the sufferings your family and your nation endured. A sword of sorrow pierced your loving heart each time you experienced the pain of sin which wounded your innocent Son and all those around you. We need you, Mary, to be with us in our sorrows, that we may not give up or despair, but keep hoping in God’s love for us, and in the fulfillment of His promises. We, too want to console your tender heart, so pained by our sins, which continue so grievously against your Son today. Sweet Mother of Sorrows, we love you. Amen.

With all my heart I praise Thee, Most Holy Virgin above all angels and saints in Paradise, Daughter of the Eternal Father, and I consecrate to Thee my soul with all its faculties.
*Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with Thee! Blessed art Thou among women and blessed is the fruit of Thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen
With all my heart I praise Thee, Most Holy Virgin above all angels and saints in Paradise, beloved Mother of the Son of God. I consecrate to Thee my body with all its senses.
Hail Mary…
With all my heart I praise Thee, Most Holy Virgin above all angels and saints in Paradise, beloved Spouse of the Holy Ghost, I consecrate to Thee my heart, with all its affections and beseech Thee to obtain for me from the Most Holy Trinity all the graces necessary for salvation.
Hail Mary…*
Practice: Recite morning and evening the Consecration and Three Hail Marys in honor of the three great privileges of Mary, together with this invocation at the end of each Hail Mary:
By thy holy and Immaculate Conception, O Mary,
make my body pure and my soul holy;
preserve me this day [this night] from mortal sin.
